Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CleanMyMacOS ("the App"), developed and published by Spectrum Labs ("we", "us", "our"), based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own, subject to the Mac App Store terms and these Terms. The App is licensed, not sold.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose: maintaining and cleaning your macOS system. You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App to delete files on systems you do not own or control
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App
- Remove or modify any proprietary notices in the App
3. File Deletion and User Responsibility
CleanMyMacOS presents files for your review before deletion. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming which files to remove. While the App includes safety measures (SafetyPolicyEngine, risk levels, recent file protection), we cannot guarantee that every file marked for cleanup is unnecessary for your specific use case.
By default, the App moves files to the macOS Trash. You can recover trashed files until you empty the Trash. We strongly recommend maintaining regular backups of your important data.
4. macOS Settings Changes
The macOS Tweaks feature modifies system preferences using standard macOS APIs (UserDefaults). All tweaks can be reverted to macOS defaults using the App. We are not responsible for unexpected behavior caused by macOS preference changes, though all tweaks offered are well-documented and widely used.
5. In-App Purchases
The App offers optional paid features through in-app purchases:
- Pro (Yearly) — Annual subscription unlocking all features
- Lifetime — One-time purchase unlocking all features permanently
Purchases are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. Subscription management, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple. To cancel a subscription, go to System Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
6. Availability and Updates
We aim to keep the App available and up-to-date, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may release updates to add features, fix bugs, or maintain compatibility with new macOS versions. Updates are distributed through the Mac App Store.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, design, and content, is the intellectual property of Spectrum Labs. All rights not explicitly granted in these Terms are reserved.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, that all files identified for cleanup are safe to remove, or that the App will be compatible with all macOS configurations.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Spectrum Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, system instability, or loss of productivity.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
